PlayScreen Takes Puzzle Gaming to the Third Dimension with “Match 3D Flick Puzzle” for the iPhone

Stunning visuals, 3D interface and challenging gameplay showcase the iPhone’s advanced capabilities

SAN DIEGO, CA - PlayScreen, the company that launched the very first Apple iPhone game, iWack, in July 2007, now takes puzzle gaming to a new dimension with “Match 3D Flick Puzzle” for the iPhone. Building on its founders’ decades of experience in the video game and entertainment industries, Match 3D Flick Puzzle takes puzzle gaming to the next level of graphics, animation and intensity.

In the game, players take control of a 3D supercube consisting of 512 smaller cubes that players must match up in groups of three or more. Advanced multi-touch controls allow users to rotate and maneuver individual planes and faces of the cube to find the best cube face matches. Flick the supercube to move it. Pinch to zoom in or out. Shake your iPhone or iPod touch to spin the supercube. Lock the game into full-screen view with just a single tap on the magnifying glass.

“Our goal was simple,” said Sherri Cuono, President and Founder of PlayScreen. “We set out to create the greatest iPhone puzzle game ever created, a visually stunning experience with enough options to meet the expectations of users with vastly different playing styles.”

“Infinite levels, depth of play, an advanced user interface and a 3D presentation that could only come together on the iPhone take Match 3D Flick Puzzle beyond the current crop of puzzle titles that originated years ago on less capable platforms,” added industry veteran and PlayScreen CEO William Volk. “I saw first hand in the 1990’s, how 3D graphics revolutionized action gaming. Now it’s time for puzzle games to make the same leap to advanced graphics and interfaces.”

In Match 3D Flick Puzzle, matches of three or more of the same patterned cubes can occur in three dimensions as well. Special cubes enhance play with wild-card instant-matches, cube-blasting explosions, locked blocks and clear blocks. Players earn bonuses that provide special moves, that all them to destroy a block, change a block, highlight all matches, swap blocks and much, much more. Match 3D provides the full range of puzzle play, from the casual “endless” challenge of a classic matching game to the super-intense “beat the clock” experience of “Survival Timed.”

Match 3D Flick Puzzle is available for $3.99 from the Apple App Store on iPhone and iPod touch. A free version, featuring four levels of the Classic-Timed game, is being released alongside the full version.

Sorry everyone for the long overdue lack of updates. We’ve been busy around these parts lately, which is, of course, a good thing. We’re looking at changing the mechanism for updating this front page, maybe just going to our twitter feed, or a more static (gasp! the horror!) page. We’ll keep you posted!

The Week in Client Review…

April 19th, 2009

We had a pretty busy week around these parts, with several cool game announcements and assets (screens/video) releases. Here’s a quick rundown of what’s new with some of my clients’ games -

Sherlock Holmes versus Jack the Rippper - new screens for Xbox 360 and PC. Interested in adventure/detective games? Then check this one out, as it’s from one of the most popular licenses (Sherlock Holmes) in the genre.

CITIES XL - this week we announced that registration had begun for the beta. If you’re a fan of city building and/or tycoon games, and want to see how Monte Cristo is going to mix both genres, add some social networking and top it with a splash of MMO, it’s worth checking out CITIES XL.

We also announced Dungeon Raiders for the Nintendo DS. It’s a dungeon crawler/adventure game designed to make you laugh while you’re making you’re beating up monsters and capturing loot. Just to give you an idea of the humor, check out the logo -

Sacred 2: Fallen Angel (the Xbox 360) version also received some PR love this week. First off, we released a new trailer for the Xbox 360 version -

and we are quite happy to announce the Xbox 360 version has gone gold, with the PlayStation 3 version not far behind. Both versions are set to ship on May 12.
